OUBLAUM FILMES is a film production company created in 2018 by Ico Costa. It focuses on independent and socially relevant cinema by directors from the four corners of the world.
So far, OUBLAUM has produced short films TIMKAT (Visions du Réel 2021) and DOMY+AILUCHA: CENAS KETS! (Tenk Award at Cinéma du Réel 2022 and Best Short Film Award at IndieLisboa), the feature films ALVA (Rotterdam 2019) and GOLD SONGS (Best Portuguese Feature Film at IndieLisboa 2024 and European Student Prize Foundation Vacances Bleues at FIDMarseille 2024), all films by Ico Costa, as well as the feature films ÁGUAS DO PASTAZA (Berlinale 2022) by Inês T. Alves, TERRA QUE MARCA (Berlinale 2022) by Raul Domingues, TOMORROW IS A LONG TIME (Berlinale 2023) by Jow Zhi Wei, EL AUGE DEL HUMANO 3 (Locarno 2023) by Eduardo Williams, SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING BORROWED by Hernán Rosselli (Directors’ Fortnight 2024) and THE MEMORY OF BUTTERFLIES (Berlinale 2025), by Tatiana Fuentes Sadowski.
OUBLAUM FILMES is also producing films in co-production with France, Germany, Holland, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Singapore, Taiwan and China, namely the upcoming feature films by Marcelo Martinessi, Ico Costa and Jerónimo Quevedo.
It is also the co-producer of the documentary television series CAVALO, by Ico Costa and Barnabé Freixo, to be made in 2025.
Its founder, Ico Costa, has produced several of his works, including the short films LIBHAKETI (Curtas de Vila do Conde 2012), ANTERO (IndieLisboa 2014) and NYO VWETA NAFTA (Rotterdam 2017), and the documentary BARULHO, ECLIPSE (Cinéma du Réel 2018).
