PEOPLE AND POWER seeks to portray a nation at a defining moment in its history: the 2024 presidential election in Mozambique, a country that recently celebrated five decades of Independence. Amid a tense political campaign, the film reveals how the country is grappling with a severe political crisis. FRELIMO, in power since 1975, is watching its people’s trust drain away, as disillusionment grows over widening inequality, systemic corruption, and the persistent lack of freedom of expression.
